Highlights of The Week Stay updated on what’s happening in your Class DoJo and follow Hampstead Academy Events & News

Apples Up On Top! Our Pre-K friends have been exploring apples this week! From reading Ten Apples Up On Top, to tasting different apples and voting on their favorite! They even practiced counting the seeds! Our friends also practiced their fine motor skills through coloring, tracing letters, cutting, and gluing Apples Up On Top!

Pre-K also graduated to the Blu-Bot this week! They were very engaged practicing direction and programming their little friend to avoid obstacles using left, right, forward, and backward.

Lego Challenge! All students were given the same kit to create a working net. All students met the challenge in a slightly different way!

This is not your typical lesson on making change! Ms. St. Pierre’s class set up their own store to practice budgeting, counting, and making change! Students had to price their products, sell their products, ensure full payment and make change.

Our students are ready for their postcards to rocket into space! @clubforfuture inspires the next generation of dreamers and builders. Once these postcards are mailed they will be launched into space and return with an official “Flown to Space” stamp. What do you think the future of life in space looks like?

Perseverance is key to surviving. Our 5th graders were able to hear, smell, and feel nature as they read the last chapter in Hatchet by Gary Paulsen telling the story of a 13 yr old boy surviving 56 days in the Canadian wilderness.

During Genius Hour Ms. Cummings taught us all how to hand knit. It was a great exercise practicing focus and hand/eye coordination. We all learned a new skill and may have just found another tool to feel calm and happy.

In Art this week, students studied vintage posters and created their own! Some based their poster on the book they are reading in class “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”

“Ms. Farrell, what does the inside of a piano look like?” So we looked and studied how a piano works! Then we started talking about the different types of instruments. Did you know the piano is a percussion instrument? Our older students have been busy creating a class composition (so impressive)!
